Overview


Senior Security Service Technician role at Sciens Building Solutions is described as an experienced position requiring programming, troubleshooting, and repair capabilities. This role works closely with the service team and clients to ensure critical life safety systems are repaired efficiently to maintain performance. It is a key position for our growing team and requires attention to detail in all aspects of system troubleshooting and repair. Customer and employee interface requires a high degree of effective human relations. Communication skills, both written and verbal, are important elements of the position.


Responsibilities



  • Troubleshoot and repair security systems including analog, IP, addressable, and networked solutions.

  • Program and maintain advanced equipment and systems including intrusion detection, video surveillance, asset protection, environmental detection, holdup/duress, integrated systems, and equipment related to the central monitoring station.

  • Use a variety of troubleshooting tools to analyze systems and detect fault conditions.

  • Produce repair reports in accordance with best practices for customer acceptance and billing information.

  • Produce field surveys and daily project logs of activity.

  • Responsible for complex troubleshooting and effective resolution.

  • Responsible for programming systems via laptop computers.

  • Responsible for project and vehicle inventory.

  • Provide support, guidance, and expertise to other technicians.

  • Take ownership of onsite projects including safety, quality, and performance.

  • Train and develop other Service Technicians on equipment and company policies and procedures.

  • Provide technical support to end users and technicians when required.

  • Make field decisions related to the installation of items such as camera and card access device placement.

  • Comply with industry standard procedures and Sciens safety programs/policies.


Qualifications



  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in a technician role within the building security systems industry.

  • Knowledge of current security systems including access control, IP video, cloud-based systems, and voice and data systems.

  • Advanced understanding of security system integrity and how to troubleshoot for circuit opens, shorts, or ground conditions.

  • Independent ability to program multiple manufacturer's advanced system product platform(s)/graphical systems.

  • Experience with Brivo, Continental, DSX, and/or Lenel systems preferred.

  • Ability to demonstrate proper operation of equipment and control units to customers and explain how it is to be used, and how to respond to any system signals.

  • Ability to program and troubleshoot mid-range to complex security systems.

  • Advanced knowledge of NPFA 70 and 731 for testing and maintenance of security systems.

  • State, local, contract, and/or product specific certifications determined by the business.

  • Knowledge of state fire procedures, filing, and requirements.

  • Ability to read fire and security system design drawings.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and with a sense of urgency.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and able to obtain OSHA 10 certification.

  • Customer-focused; skilled in project and people management.

  • Proficient in issue resolution.

  • Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.

  • Be physically fit to perform the demanding work of the trade, including frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds, maximum occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; able to work from heights and climb ladders; standing and walking for most of the workday.

  • Ability to travel occasionally overnight, as needed.

  • Able to pass background check and pre-employment drug screening.

  • Valid driver’s license & reliable transportation.
