Overview Senior Software Engineer (Labs & Prototyping) - Canada, Europe, Brazil — Storyblok is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with 5–7+ years of hands-on experience to join the Innovation Labs. This role focuses on rapidly prototyping, validating, and iterating on new ideas for the future of content management, operating separately from main product squads and at high velocity. Frequent travel for in-person Concept Workshops is expected.

Job Summary We’ll partner with the Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) and a tight-knit team to explore innovative features for the CMS and beyond, turning concepts into demonstrable MVPs.

Responsibilities

Design, architect, and implement high-quality prototypes and proofs-of-concept to test and demonstrate innovative features, using the best-fit tech for each challenge

Engage with Storyblok’s core tech stack—Ruby on Rails (backend) and Vue.js (frontend)—with ability to learn other technologies (Rust, Python, React.js) as needed

Evaluate emerging technologies (LLMs, vector databases, generative AI, new developer tools) and apply them to the headless CMS space to deliver value faster

Collaborate with the CIO and team in high-energy workshops to brainstorm, frame, and prioritize experimental projects, moving quickly from concept to MVP

Translate ideas and business needs into tangible solutions suitable for long-term productization after validation

Participate in technical planning, code reviews, and architectural decisions; provide strategic input on experimentation processes and technical direction

Document processes, assumptions, and learnings to support knowledge sharing

Embrace short development cycles, high autonomy, and the creative ambiguity of innovation work

Travel regularly (approximately every 6–8 weeks) for team workshops and offsites

Education and Experience

5–7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with a track record of building and shipping robust products or prototypes

Professional experience with Ruby on Rails and Vue.js; strong proficiency in both, or ability to learn the other quickly

Demonstrated experience with rapid prototyping and fast iteration cycles, ideally in labs, research, or startup environments

Exposure to AI/ML frameworks, LLMs, or vector databases is highly desirable

Strong collaborator with the ability to thrive in autonomous and highly interactive settings
