Work Model: 60–80% Remote (travel required)

Role Overview

The Senior System Administrator is responsible for providing advanced Second Level Support within a secure IT infrastructure environment. The role focuses on maintaining and supporting secure backend systems that enable protected digital workspaces for end users.

Due to increasing service demands, this position plays a key role in incident handling, operational task processing, quality assurance measures, and infrastructure lifecycle activities. The role also includes documentation, release testing, and deployment of hardware and security updates.

Key Responsibilities

Second Level Support & Incident Management

• Provide telephone-based Second Level Support
• Process and resolve incidents within structured incident management workflows
• Analyze recurring issues and implement preventive measures
• Troubleshoot secure VPN solutions (e.g., OpenVPN, AnyConnect, secure enterprise VPN platforms)

Technical Order Processing & CMDB Management

• Process technical service requests and operational orders
• Maintain and update configuration data in central CMDB systems
• Ensure accurate documentation of infrastructure changes

IT Operations Management

• Install, configure, commission, administer, and monitor IT and communication service infrastructure
• Ensure compliance with current IT security standards
• Monitor performance thresholds and availability to meet SLAs
• Optimize configurations in case of performance bottlenecks

Change, Release & Configuration Management

• Implement operational changes following standardized procedures
• Support release management activities
• Document infrastructure modifications in configuration databases

Quality & Continuous Improvement

• Conduct Total Quality Management (TQM) activities
• Test new software releases
• Deploy new hardware components and security patches
• Create and maintain operational documentation (technical support manuals, guidelines, operational handbooks)

Required Qualifications

Education & Professional Background

• Bachelors degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field
• OR Minimum 5 years of professional experience in IT

Certifications

• ITIL Foundation certification (knowledge of IT Service Management principles required)

Language Requirements

• German C1 (CEFR)

Professional Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Second Level Support (Incident Management)
• At least 1 year of experience troubleshooting VPN solutions (e.g., OpenVPN, enterprise VPN platforms)
• Experience working with secure backend systems and protected IT environments
• Experience in configuration management and CMDB maintenance
• Experience with change and release management processes
