20 hours per week , delivering engaging and effective lessons while ensuring students achieve their learning outcomes. In addition to teaching, you will work closely with the
Centre Manager and Academic Head of Languages
to support the academic running of the centre. Your responsibilities will include
monitoring student progress, managing academic administration, supporting teacher recruitment, conducting lesson observations, and leading professional development activities . You will also play an important role in maintaining academic quality and supporting the professional growth of the teaching team. This role would suit an experienced educator who enjoys
teaching while contributing to wider academic leadership and programme development .
ROLE PURPOSE: This is a varied role where you have academic and administrative responsibilities. You are responsible for engaging students in the learning processes, ensuring learner outcomes are maximised and the students have interesting, enjoyable lessons. You will work closely with the Centre Manager on academic administrative tasks, examples given below, and you will also be responsible for developing materials and documents as well as testing students. You will also deal with teacher recruitment, lesson observations and teacher development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Academic (Teaching): ·Teaching up to 20 hours per week depending on current projects and school requirements. All aspects of planning, delivering, and assessing student work, appropriate to the course and to the type of students, ensuring that all learning outcomes are met. Keeping an accurate record of student attendance and other administrative duties as agreed with your line-manager. Develop, update, and improve course materials as appropriate. Use a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials. Weekly and monthly testing of students plus progress meetings/tutorials with students in class. Attend meetings as required, to contribute to the decision-making process and to develop productive working relationships within the various teams you will be engaged with. Have regular meetings with the Centre Manager to set objectives and measure progress towards those objectives. A full induction will be provided to all new staff, and regular training will be offered. Lead the organisation and delivery of monthly CPD sessions. Conduct teacher observations, arrange post-observation meetings , come up with a plan for the teacher’s further professional development and follow-up on their progress. Up to 4 hours per week for German language workshops, such as conversation café, and educational visits as agreed with the Student Services Manager.
Academic (Administrative): Input/check weekly attendance on CLASS and produce registers where necessary. Create and distribute certificates. Oversee Study Clinics Weekly reporting of numbers to Academic Head of Languages Represent Berlin school at EP wide academic meetings Weekly communication to relevant teachers Printing tests if necessary Assist with inductions (Friday prep and Monday speaking tests). Create Records of Work, Attendance registers and make sure the teachers fill in the documentation in a timely and proper manner.
Safeguarding and Welfare Responsibilities: Responsible for promoting safeguarding within their venue and working with others to ensure a safe and inclusive environment is achieved. Help provide emotional and pastoral care for students and promote their mental and physical wellbeing at all times. Effectively manage classroom management and student behaviour (with the support of the academic management team). Make yourself aware of EPs safeguarding policy, attendance policy, safer recruitment policy and any other policies relating to welfare and safeguarding of students to ensure a clear and correct process is always followed to ensure children are safe and protected.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Some experience in a similar role. Excellent German language knowledge and an in-depth understanding of teaching methodology in a multi-lingual environment essential. Structured and creative approach to lesson planning. A desire to continue to develop professionally and help support and develop less experienced teachers. Some experience providing support and feedback. Ability to work with classroom technology with ease and creativity. Professional conduct in all interactions with staff and students. Flexibility and a positive attitude. Attention to detail and accurate reporting. Ability to maintain thorough and organised student records. Ability to work under pressure, plan and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines. Highly motivated and able to work with minimum supervision. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work with diverse groups of people and enthusiasm and commitment to working as a team.
