SENIOR/PREMISE ENGINEER - DC-DC CONVERTER POWER ELECTRONICS (m/f/d)

Huawei's Ohm Research Center (Nuremberg) is responsible for Advanced Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning.

The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within Huawei Ohm Research Center (Nuremberg) is responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Huawei Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply.

Your mission

• Selection and efficiency optimization of power topologies based on requirements and specifications.
• Develop simulation models to accurately estimate the losses of highly-compact power supply modules.
• Propose new concepts and patents to be used in DC-DC converters. Focus on power topologies, magnetic components, and control schemes.
• Design of advanced control and modulation schemes for DC-DC converters.
• Production of insight reports about DC-DC converter topologies, control, and magnetic components for DC-DC converters
• Feasibility analysis of new cutting-edge concepts related to DC-DC converters.
• Build and maintain cooperation with industrial institutions and universities in Europe.

Your areas of expertise

• You hold a Master or Ph.D degree in power electronics, electrical engineering and other related majors.
• Proven solid experience in designing highly compact and efficient DC-DC converters.
• Familiar with isolated and non-isolated DC-DC converter power topologies.
• Familiar high switching-speed semiconductor devices (Si and GaN) – Gate-driver design, operation, and performance characterization.
• Participation, representing the local research center, in internal and external events (e.g, conferences, workshops, etc).
• Fluent level of communication in English.
• Experience in requirements definition and design of DC-DC converters for computing applications (Datacenter, Telecom, ASICs, xPU, HPCs) is a plus.
