The Baden-Württemberg Municipal Pension Association (KVBW) is a public-law corporation whose areas of business include civil servant pensions, subsidies, municipal personnel services, and supplementary pensions. Its geographical scope of operations covers the state of Baden-Württemberg. The association is headquartered in Karlsruhe, with a second office in Stuttgart.
The following position is to be filled as so

on as possible at our office in Karlsruhe in the Software Engineering and IT Coordination Department

  • Software Developer (m/f/d) – Focus on Mainframe / Host
  • Pay Grade A12 LBesO / up to Pay Grade 11 TVöD, Reference Number: V 654.26
  • Due to our high quality standards, we develop the software used in administrative processing primarily in-house within a large IT department, in accordance with the technical specifications of our business units.

Your main responsibilities

  • Independent implementation, expansion, and optimization of existing custom software
  • Your primary focus will be on developing access programs for the Adabas database system
  • Data replication from Adabas to SQL
  • Willingness to collaborate on projects across all phases of the software development process
  • In the future, you may also be responsible for implementing requirements with small and medium-sized teams

We expect the following from you

  • A completed relevant college or university degree, relevant completed vocational training, or comparable professional experience in application development; pay grade is determined based on qualifications and subject-specific professional experience
  • Knowledge of the programming languages COBOL and Natural, as well as the Adabas and SQL databases
  • A sense of responsibility, quick comprehension, and good judgment
  • Ability to work in a team, initiative, communication skills, and good work and time management
  • Willingness to support a technology transition over the next 10 years and to further develop your skills through relevant continuing education opportunities and available training programs
