Overview
As a Software Engineer, Applications, you will be part of the Immersive Audio Team within HARMAN Research and will be responsible for advancing new audio technologies from research through prototype development and productization readiness. You will support innovation across HARMAN’s Automotive, Lifestyle, and Professional product lines by developing and evaluating audio systems, signal processing algorithms, machine learning solutions, and test methodologies. You will collaborate with researchers and software developers and work across the full technology lifecycle: identifying new concepts, building proof‑of‑concept implementations, benchmarking and optimizing solutions for market readiness, and enabling successful transfer to commercialization teams.
What You Will Do
- Design, implement and integrate Audio DSP algorithms in Embedded Audio platforms like Linux, Android or Tizen.
- Develop Linux‑based audio applications on embedded devices.
- Design and implement software components based on new technologies for further integration into products and services by external teams.
- Promote and drive adaptation of technologies developed by the Audio Systems team with internal Business Units and Engineering organizations.
- Make key technical trade‑offs and optimizations required to scale technologies from prototype to productization and mass production.
- Evaluate existing and emerging technologies for market readiness through benchmarking, technical analysis, and comparative assessment.
- Transfer new technologies to commercialization teams, ensuring technical readiness and successful integration.
- Write technical reports, white papers, and patent applications.
What You Need To Be Successful
- Minimum of BSc degree in one of the following fields: Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, acoustics, etc. and 6 years of relevant industry experience.
- Experience with development of SW on embedded platforms, using C/C++.
- Practical experience with Agentic AI integration into code development process.
- Real time Audio DSP algorithm implementation experience.
- Hands‑on experience with continuous integration systems and Agile SW development.
- Fluency in developing multi‑threaded and interrupt‑driven programs for real‑time applications.
- Experience with SDKs for audio development.
- Business fluent in English (verbal and written).
Bonus Points if You Have
- Experience implementing and testing algorithms derived from research papers.
- Experience with DSP algorithms prototyping in MATLAB.
- Experience with data science and machine learning.
- Experience creating VSTs or other real‑time audio processing prototyping.
- Experience with Linux/Tizen OS development.
- Experience with acoustic systems measurements.
- Practical experience with embedded systems prototyping and debugging.
