Software Engineer - HWTE Software Team

Summary

Come join the fun HWTE Software team in Munich! We build customized software used to calibrate and test future Apple products in the factory. In this position, you will architect, develop and deploy software used in the factory to manufacture Apple’s new products. This involves collaborating with other engineers across the broader HWTE Metrology teams, and our partners throughout Apple. Be one of the first people in the world to witness new Apple products being crafted for the first time.

Estimated Travel: 15% internationally

Description

We are currently seeking an individual with strong software skills, with a strong command of Python and knowledgeable in C/C++, and with a willingness to learn Objective‑C. You will work with a team of world‑class engineers to develop and deploy mass‑production friendly solutions for all Apple products. This would include architecting, developing, deploying and triaging software used in the factory during manufacture of new products.

Responsibilities would include triaging and diagnosing issues with cross‑functional teams from diverse engineering backgrounds during new product bring‑up, as well as working with external vendors on defining better solutions and processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong command of Python, C/C++ and object-oriented languages
  • A good working knowledge of using source control systems like Git
  • Fluency in both oral and written English.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills; clear communication with diverse teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong software development experience (internships/co‑ops/university experience are applicable)
  • C++14/C++17, working knowledge of templates, memory management and experience of parallel programming.
  • Software development targeting GPU hardware (CUDA, Metal, etc)
  • Experience with OS X programming using the Xcode toolchain
  • Wider set of scripting languages (e.g., Lua, Bash)
  • Experience collaborating with team members in different time zones
  • BS/MS in CS / CE, or equivalent experience.
  • A working knowledge of Matlab, plus a basic understanding in DSP / image processing and algorithm design.
  • A positive outlook towards stepping into uncharted technology space and working hard to deliver solutions in a timely fashion.
  • Excellent judgment; a self‑directed, proactive approach to tackling problems, and an ability to generate trust and to build good working relationships with colleagues.
