We are supporting a German client in their search for an Engineering Manager to lead and grow cross‑functional engineering teams working on modern digital products. The role focuses on people leadership, technical guidance, and building a strong engineering culture that supports high‑quality delivery. You will partner closely with Product and Design stakeholders, enabling teams to deliver scalable, user‑centred solutions while continuously improving engineering standards and ways of working.
Your Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and support cross‑functional engineering teams to achieve delivery goals. Foster a collaborative, inclusive environment that encourages innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Drive engineering best practices, technical quality, and operational excellence. Work closely with Product and Design to shape team roadmaps and break down large initiatives into achievable increments. Support hiring, onboarding, and talent development across engineering teams. Review and assess new technologies and approaches that enhance team performance and product quality.
What You Bring
Experience as an Engineering Manager or in a similar technical leadership role. A leadership style grounded in empathy, humility, and effective delegation. Strong communication skills, with the ability to distil technical concepts clearly for various audiences. A solid technical background and the ability to support architectural and engineering decisions. Passion for modern software development and iterative delivery approaches.
Nice to Have
Experience with microservices architectures and JVM‑based languages (e.g., Java/Kotlin). Familiarity with modern frontend technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystems. Understanding of cloud‑native environments and event‑driven systems. Interest in exploring how AI/GenAI can support software delivery.
