Overview

Alibaba Cloud is seeking an experienced Senior Architect with expertise in cloud computing, AI/ML, and industrial solutions to lead cutting-edge projects for enterprise customers across Europe, especially focus on the German speaking region. Based in Germany, you will design scalable, compliant cloud architectures while driving Alibaba Cloud’s AI and industry-specific solutions in key sectors like Internet, autonomous driving, Industrial 4.0, fin-tech, and more. As a senior technical team member, you will bridge global innovation with the market needs, ensuring solutions align with EU regulations (e.g., GDPR, AI Act) and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Deep Technical Leadership & Hands-on Architecture.
• Design and implement large-scale, compliant cloud infrastructures for AI workloads, including hybrid / multi-cloud, edge computing, and high-performance environments.
• Act as a hands-on architect to solve complex technical challenges in distributed systems, real-time data processing, large-scale model training, and low-latency inference for mission-critical applications.
• Lead the end-to-end architecture of AI/ML-powered cloud solutions (LLMs, computer vision, MLOps), from design to PoC and production readiness, for customers across industries such as Internet, Automotive, FinTech, and Healthcare.
• Provide expert-level guidance on cloud-native architectures, performance optimization, cost efficiency, reliability, and security.

• Customer & Ecosystem Engagement.
• Lead complex technical pre-sales activities (architecture workshops, PoCs, RFPs) for European enterprise customers, translating business and regulatory requirements into scalable, production-grade cloud and AI architectures.
• Work closely with partners (Channels, SIs, ISVs, research institutions, universities) to co-design and deliver industry-relevant AI and cloud solutions, strengthening Alibaba Cloud’s ecosystem footprint in Europe.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to senior customer stakeholders, driving long-term cloud and AI adoption.

• Global Alignment & Regional Execution.
• Collaborate closely with China and EMEA product, engineering, and architecture teams to adapt global cloud and AI capabilities to European regulatory, data sovereignty, and compliance requirements.
• Contribute hands-on feedback from customer implementations to influence product roadmaps and solution blueprints for the European market.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in cloud architecture on leading platforms (Alibaba Cloud, AWS, Azure), with strong practical exposure to AI/ML technologies (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, LLMs, MLOps).
• 5+ years acting as a lead or principal architect for large, multinational enterprise customers; solid experience with European customers and regulatory environments is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to design, build, and troubleshoot complex cloud systems in production environments, not limited to high-level architecture design.
• Proven expertise in at least two of the following domains:
• AI/ML: Model training and inference optimization, generative AI, AutoML, large-scale MLOps pipelines.
• Cloud: Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Kubernetes, serverless architectures, HPC, hybrid and multi-cloud networking.
• Data: Large-scale data pipelines (Spark, Flink), data governance, and compliance-aware data architectures.
• Fluent in English and German (business and technical communication); Chinese language skills are a plus.
