Strategic Energy Buyer – Power Portfolio & PPA

Stellenbeschreibung:

Job Title:

Strategic Energy Buyer – Power Portfolio & PPA Salary:

€100,000–€115,000 base + €20,000 bonus Location:

Bonn or Munich, Germany (60% on-site, 10–25% travel)

You don’t need convincing that the energy transition matters. You need a seat where your judgement actually changes outcomes, where your modelling, market view and negotiations protect supply, cut risk, and turn volatility into advantage. In this role, you’ll sit at the heart of a group-wide electricity portfolio of around 2 TWh per year, supplied with 100% green energy, and help shape a strategy built for resilience, predictability and climate performance.

Why this role You’ll join the Energy Procurement and Law function of an in-house energy provider supporting a major German group. The mission is clear: build a robust, sustainable electricity supply through smart procurement, disciplined risk management, and a portfolio approach that performs in fast-moving markets. Your work will influence long-term stability and profitability — while accelerating decarbonisation through renewables, flexibility and better decisions at the right time.

What you’ll do You’ll lead market, price and regulatory analysis and turn it into confident, management-ready recommendations for power portfolio design. You’ll shape international sourcing strategies, identify and deliver savings potential, and build supplier strategies across high-impact product groups with clear governance around risk.

A core focus will be negotiating and structuring long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), while optimising the procurement and portfolio mix through OTC and spot transactions. You’ll also help unlock value from large-scale storage systems, developing scenarios to strengthen cross-market deployment and monetise flexibility. You’ll steer strategic initiatives with multiple stakeholders across group companies, working closely with legal interfaces and senior decision-makers.

About the company This is an established, in-house energy provider embedded within a large German group — commercially minded, operationally critical, and ambitious about sustainability. The culture is pragmatic: rigorous analysis, clear accountability, and a genuine belief that good procurement is a competitive advantage in the transition to Net Zero.

About you You bring a strong degree in economics, business administration or energy economics (or equivalent experience), plus several years in energy procurement, strategic sourcing or power portfolio management. You understand energy market roles, processes and regulatory frameworks, and you’re confident drafting and negotiating international contracts. You communicate clearly at management level, think analytically, and enjoy working with numbers, scenarios and digital tools. You collaborate well across classic and agile environments. Native-level German and fluent English are essential.
