Systems Engineer Earth Observation Missions (m/f/d)

Location: Bremen – Permanent employment.

Responsibilities

  • Technical lead of Phase 0 and A/B1 studies and proposals
  • Lead and technical co‑ordination of special departments and single subcontractors
  • Execution of trade‑offs, analysis and definition of mission and system architecture
  • Lead the system design of the entire space system, subsystems and the definition of requirements specification from satellite level down to subsystem level
  • Definition of interface requirements towards payload, launcher and ground segment
  • Support activities for Model Based Systems Engineering for the mission
  • Support the analysis of the overall satellite development approach in accordance with the objective of achieving the requested TRL by the end of the respective Phase 0 and A/B1
  • Support the establishment of a project implementation schedule for the overall satellite
  • Support the analysis and assessment of potential cost drivers of the satellite
  • Support the analysis and assessment of technical and programmatic risks related to cost, schedule and technical feasibility of the satellite

Qualifications

  • Completed studies (Diploma or Master) in aerospace engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Several years of professional experience in satellite engineering and mission architecture, preferably in Phase 0 to B1
  • Knowledge of Earth observation space missions, especially in the ESA context
  • Strong competencies in space mission design, satellite systems engineering and spacecraft subsystem design
  • Knowledge of requirements engineering for subsystems of space systems and preparation of specifications
  • Knowledge of design and development planning (DDV/AIV) including determination of the qualification status (TRL)
  • High level of flexibility, willingness to work in international teams and ability to keep tight schedules
  • High motivation, pro‑active working approach and strong sense of responsibility
  • Excellent communication, presentation and documentation skills
  • Fluency in both spoken and written (business) English
