Team Lead IoT & Data Platform (m/f/d)

Your Role

At STABL Energy, we are building modular battery systems that rethink how energy storage is deployed and scaled. Our cloud platform connects, monitors, and operates these systems in the field — forming the digital backbone of our products.

As Team Lead, you take end-to-end ownership of STABL’s Battery Cloud — the platform that connects our fleet of battery systems, processes real-time telemetry, and enables operational excellence through internal tools and customer-facing services.

You will lead a small but highly capable team (currently 2 engineers) and remain technically hands‑on. This is a startup leadership role: you set direction, make architectural decisions, and contribute directly to implementation.

You operate at the intersection of IoT, distributed systems, and product engineering — bridging embedded edge devices, AWS infrastructure, and user‑facing applications.

Your mission

You are accountable for the architecture, reliability, and scalability of our cloud platform.

This includes:

• Defining and evolving the overall cloud architecture (IoT connectivity, data ingestion, storage, APIs, portal)
• Ensuring reliable and secure connectivity of our BESS fleet in the field
• Designing scalable telemetry pipelines and time‑series data infrastructure
• Owning observability, uptime, and operational robustness
• Leading the development of our internal service and operational tools
• Establishing engineering standards for cloud development, deployment, and cost efficiency
• Hiring, mentoring, and structuring the Cloud team as we grow
• Aligning technical decisions with product, firmware, service, and compliance stakeholders

Your profile

• Proven experience leading engineering teams in a startup or fast‑moving product environment
• Strong background in designing and operating distributed systems in AWS cloud environments
• Experience with IoT architectures and device connectivity at scale
• Solid understanding of data pipelines, time‑series storage, and API design
• Hands‑on proficiency in modern backend development using TypeScript and Python
• Experience with infrastructure as code using CDKTF
• Ability to switch between strategic thinking and hands‑on implementation
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across firmware, hardware, operations, and compliance teams
• Experience in energy systems or industrial IoT is a strong plus.
