The Max Planck Institute for Biology Tübingen is a world‑renowned research institute and part of the German Max Planck Society. The Department of Algal Development and Evolution is seeking a Technical Assistant in Molecular Biology (f/m/d) .

We are looking for a highly motivated Technical Assistant in Molecular Biology (f/m/d) to support research projects in the Department, with a particular focus on genotyping and molecular biology approaches associated with reverse genetics.

Your responsibilities

  • Perform large-scale genotyping in the context of CRISPR/Cas-based projects
  • Assist in the maintenance of algal cultures and prepare samples for genotyping
  • Carry out nucleic acid extractions and basic molecular biology procedures
  • Contribute to the organization and smooth running of molecular biology workflows in the laboratory

Your profile

  • Completed training as a Biological-Technical Assistant (f/m/d) or a comparable qualification
  • Practical experience in molecular and/or cellular biology, ideally in a research laboratory environment
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques, particularly genotyping, is essential
  • Experience working with algae is not required
  • Ability to communicate in English (the working language of the laboratory)
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Curiosity, motivation, and a willingness to learn new techniques and scientific topics

The position is available immediately and is limited for two years, with the possibility of a permanent position later. Remuneration is based on German TVöD guidelines, taking into account previous experience and qualifications.
