The Role

As Technician Molecular Biology, you will be part of an exciting international R&D and business environment, working with cutting edge technologies involved in a broad portfolio of diverse projects. The role requires a strong background in Molecular Biology and gene technology. It includes the opportunity for development, and an attractive compensation package.

Your Responsibilities:

• You will join our team of highly dedicated and skilled experts inside the Molecular Biology discipline
• Working in projects for bacterial production platform development, continuous strain improvement, protein library screening and product registration
• Planning and performing experiments in the laboratories for production strain construction and evaluation including robot-based (Tecan Fluent) protocols
• Laboratory techniques include cultivation of microbial cultures in both solid and liquid media (e.g., shake flasks), SDS-PAGE, PCR, qPCR, genomic and plasmid DNA isolation. You also play a role in maintaining overall laboratory functionality
• Documenting, reporting and presenting your experimental results (e.g. in Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
• Proactively contributing to trouble-shooting, continuous improvement of methods
• You will be based in Darmstadt, Germany and will interface with global R&D teams located in Germany and in Finland, as well as other disciplines (e.g., Application Development, Regulatory Affairs)

About You

• You completed your apprenticeship as biological laboratory technician (Biologielaborant/in or BTA) or equivalent
• You have hands-on experience with standard technologies in molecular biology and microbiology like PCR, qPCR, DNA isolation and cultivation of bacteria
• You have experience with bacterial production systems, especially with Bacillus, experience with sterile techniques and working in S1/S2 biological safety level laboratories
• Experiences with High-Throughput Screening (HTS) and automation and/or fungal production platforms (e.g., Aspergillus) is a plus
• You are a reliable team player and willing and interested to further develop your skills
• You are working with high accuracy and have a pragmatic and independent working style with the ability to prioritize
• Good command of spoken and written English & German
