Test Automation Specialist

Test Automation Engineer – R&D Software Platform | Dresden | 24-month ANU Contract | Hybrid | up to €75,000pa

Our client is a globally recognised technology group with a long heritage of developing advanced electronic systems and software solutions for critical infrastructure, secure communications, test & measurement, and cybersecurity markets.

The Dresden location is an important corporate R&D centre specialising in software development for digital signal processing, distributed system platforms, and integration with complex hardware and software ecosystems. Engineers in Dresden contribute to a broad range of high-impact strategic projects that span communication systems, automation platforms, and secure service infrastructures.

We are looking for an experienced Test Automation Engineer to join the Platform Core & Data Services team and help build robust, scalable automation solutions that ensure quality across distributed systems.

• Design, develop and execute automated test cases (API, integration, end-to-end) to validate the functionality, performance and security of platform services and APIs.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and fast feedback loops.
• Contribute to the development and evolution of the cross-platform automation test suite with consistent reporting structures.
• Collaborate with engineering teams across platform boundaries to define coherent test strategies and test plans.

Your Profile / Ihr Profil

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field plus ISTQB certification.
• Strong practical experience in the design, implementation and integration of automated test solutions.
• Demonstrated experience testing complex distributed systems and microservice architectures.
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes, containers and cloud-native environments.
• Proficient with automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Postman, RestAssured, JUnit, TestNG, Robot Framework).
• Scripting experience (e.g., Python).
• Expert level proficiency with GitLab CI/CD, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Fluent German and English language skills (written and spoken).
• Experience with identity providers (Keycloak, Okta), MFA, secret vaults and certificate management.
• Familiarity with event-driven interactions, message queues, workflow automation, orchestration.
• Exposure to observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger).
• Testing experience with security-critical systems or BDD approaches and tools such as Cucumber.
