As one of the world's largest solar research institutes, the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE makes a substantial contribution to sustainable, economical, safe, and socially just energy supply worldwide. Our goal is to advance the energy transition with concrete, implementable technological solutions – through excellent research results, successful industry collaborations, and startup spin-offs. To this end, we conduct research with our around 1,300 employees in the four focus areas: energy generation, energy distribution, energy storage, and energy use. The Fraunhofer ISE's state‑of‑the‑art R&D infrastructure, with 22,300 m² of laboratory space, enables top‑tier research at an international level.
Our department "Sustainable Synthesis Products" at Fraunhofer ISE is focused on the Power‑to‑Liquids concept, which involves the conversion of "green" hydrogen from renewable electricity into sustainable energy carriers, chemicals, and fuels. In addition to efficient transport and storage properties, liquid energy carriers offer an alternative to fossil energy sources in sectors that rely on the use of carbon‑based fuels. For the energy‑efficient and economical production of sustainable synthesis products, our group investigates innovative process concepts based on the raw materials CO₂ and hydrogen in laboratory and pilot plants.
We are looking for a student assistant to write a bachelor, master or diploma thesis on the topic "Simulation of reaction and separation processes in the Power‑to‑Liquids context" for the following tasks:
