Project Overview

The Government of Uzbekistan, in collaboration with KfW Development Bank on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), has secured EUR 40 million in loan funding and EUR 2 million in grants to modernise Uzbekistan’s technical and vocational education and training (TVET) system. The project, titled Support for Vocational Training in Uzbekistan (TVET II) , is part of Uzbekistan’s wider strategy to strengthen human capital and equip youth with the skills required for today’s globalised economy.

Project Components

• Investment Component: Upgrading the infrastructure of vocational training facilities across Uzbekistan, including renovation of existing buildings and provision of modern training equipment that meet labour‑market demands.
• Advisory Component: Supporting the development and implementation of labour‑market‑oriented professional profiles, training standards and curricula; encouraging collaboration between TVET institutions and public and private sector employers; teacher training focused on new technologies and equipment; establishing and enhancing Centers of Excellence; reforming job‑placement services; and fostering collaboration with leading German and EU‑TVET institutions through a twinning arrangement.

Expert Profiles Sought

• Architecture/Civil Engineering: Infrastructure design and construction supervision, design and construction of TVET facilities.
• TVET: Public administration and management of TVET facilities, capacity building of TVET institutions (including Centres of Excellence), curriculum development, TVET equipment specifications, etc.
• Environment, Health and Safety (ESHS/OHS)
