Stellenbeschreibung:

We are looking for a motivated student (m/f/d) for thesis (Bachelor/Master) in the area of time series databases to support our Cloud Applications team in Ulm. You will develop a concept and implementation of a data pipeline to store time series data in the context of a fleet management application.

Your responsibilities

Research and evaluation of different time series database technologies with respect to the product requirements and performance-related aspects
Development of a performance-optimized data model for storing machine telemetry data
Implementation of a backend service for storing incoming telemetry data in a suitable time series database using the developed data model
Development of a strategy for migrating existing time series data to the new data model
Performance evaluation of the developed solution

Your qualifications

Hands‑on experience with databases, ideally time series databases
First experience in programming languages such as C# or Go
Basic knowledge in container technologies like Docker and, ideally, Kubernetes
Ideally first experience with data streaming & messaging technologies like Apache Kafka, Redpanda, MQTT
Strong ability to work goal‑oriented and independently while being aligned with the development team
Profound communication skills in both German and English
