Position Overview

Amazon is seeking a highly experienced Project Manager to support the continued expansion of our European fulfillment network. Successful candidates will be natural self‑starters and quick learners who are comfortable leading large complex projects. This individual will lead a team of contracted support personnel and coordinate the internal and external resources required to launch new highly complex fulfillment centers with the goals of achieving timelines, staying within budget, driving standardization and consistency within our network.

Key Job Responsibilities

Active participant in vendor and Amazon safety policies
Detailed coordination of multiple material flow and installation schedules of vendors that are all interdependent.
Responsible for managing overall project budget and approving all purchase orders and invoices.
Contributes to developing comprehensive budgets during project conception.
Plans, directs, supervises and controls the execution of all business, technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the assigned program, project, or sub‑task.
Comfortable in different roles, sometimes supporting, sometimes leading.
Is capable of taking accountability while providing status, asking for help, and immediately escalating issues and problems as necessary.
Acts as the Company representative with vendors and suppliers during project execution.
Mobilizes company resources through effective liaison with support departments, to create project teams capable of completing effective quality work.
Monitors and reports on the progress of all project activity within the project including significant milestones and any conditions which would affect project cost or schedule.
Responsible for overall project schedule that enables the teams to be successful based upon the project milestones and Go‑Live.
Experience in a distribution environment and knowledgeable in material handling equipment such as pallet racking, conveyor, and fork trucks.
Possesses a broad technical background and has the ability to “roll up their sleeves” and jump in if needed, along with managing.
Contributes to project planning from concept to completion.

A Day in the Life

You will plan and execute the business case that delivers operational fulfillment centers. Your day could include engagement with all levels of the organization to agree strategy, attend the site and own its development from a greenfield to a fully functioning FC, plan and manage resources to execute activities which you have detailed in an end‑2‑end schedule. You will make decisions on behalf of the business and see the outcome of these come to fruition through coordination of stakeholders, both internal and third‑party, and finally celebrating in the successful launch of the facility… Day One for all of us!

About the Team

The Startup team is comprised of a talented group of project and program managers who drive coordination of all activities required to safely build highly complex FCs to network standards across the EU market. Our team puts a high value on work‑life balance and we are dedicated to developing and supporting our new team members. This enables PMs to execute to challenging timelines and frugal budgets to deliver new build, expansion, and retrofit projects derived from capacity and inventory needs to optimize the Amazon Fulfillment network.

Basic Qualifications

Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.)
Speak, write, and read fluently in English, and have the ability to take direction in English
Experience developing and managing large project budgets
Experience in project management and implementation with proven ability to design workable solutions and drive projects to successful implementation
Management, coaching and development of managers, teams and project resources
Management of infrastructure projects
Proficient in Microsoft Office products: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and MS Project

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with high‑level negotiation and successful internal and external relationship management
Extensive experience in project management and implementation with proven ability to design workable solutions and drive projects to successful implementation
Experience in launching new logistics centre, factories or large facilities (including equipment deployment and management of all related processes)
Certified Project Management qualification (PMP, Prince2, or other)
Advanced CAD skills
Experience in managing cool chains, refrigeration equipment and installations, temperature‑controlled environments are considered a strong plus
French, German, Polish, Arabic, Portuguese, Turkish, Chinese (Mandarin), Afrikaans and Zulu are considered preferred qualifications.
