AI Research Engineer - 3D Computer Vision

In this role you will shape AI-enabled perception capabilities for high-stakes decision support in defence. You will contribute to a computer vision team focused on scene understanding, localisation, and 3D reconstruction, balancing generalisation with hardware constraints. • Develop and benchmark scene matching and geo-registration pipelines robust to lighting, viewpoint, season, and sensor changes
• Build and evaluate SLAM, visual odometry, or structure-from-motion systems for deployable platforms
• Research and adapt geometric deep learning or feature matching methods for practical use cases
• Collaborate with product and deployment teams to integrate outputs into navigation or decision-making pipelines
• Develop CV models and pipelines using state-of-the-art methods and evaluate performance in real-world scenarios
• Adapt AI techniques to target hardware and downstream ML/AI task constraints
• Contribute across multiple teams and backgrounds on impactful projects

• MSc in computer science, machine learning, robotics, or closely related field with experience designing, implementing, and evaluating AI systems
• Hands-on experience developing localisation, scene matching, or 3D reconstruction systems
• Familiarity with modern geometric CV and deep learning approaches (learned feature matching, place recognition, visual SLAM, VIO, NeRF) and applying domain adaptation or model compression
• Solid software engineering skills in Python and experience deploying AI software to production (testing, QA, monitoring)
• Excellent communication skills for reporting research findings openly and effectively
• Passion for staying current with research and extending state-of-the-art in geometric deep learning, SLAM, and 3D vision
