Position: Art Theory Expert
Type: Contract
Compensation: $67–$75/hour
Location: Remote
Commitment: 20 hours/week

Role Responsibilities

• Author technical tasks to evaluate AI model performance in art history and art theory .
• Review and annotate problem sets grounded in artworks, compositional analyses, and historical imagery.
• Write reference solutions and apply structured quality checks to ensure accuracy.
• Collaborate with AI research teams to improve task quality and throughput.
• Work independently and asynchronously with a flexible schedule to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

Must-Have

• PhD in Art History or Art Theory , or MA in Art History with 3+ years teaching, curatorial, or research experience, or BA in Art History with 5+ years teaching, tutoring, or applied curatorial experience.
• Working fluency in at least two of: art history periods, critical theory, visual analysis, curatorial practice, conservation.
• Comfortable reading and interpreting artworks, compositional analyses, and historical imagery.
• Clear technical writing; able to articulate reasoning step-by-step in written form.
