Assistant Professor (Full-Time), Public Health, GuidedPath

Stellenbeschreibung:

Assistant Professors are full‑time employed faculty who provide a variety of educational services to degree, certificate, and non‑degree learners. They support Capella University’s expectations and maintain effective relationships with learners, colleagues, staff, and administration. Assistant Professors meet quality standards, contribute to curriculum development, participate in governance, and engage in scholarly practice.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teaching and Instruction – Engage students in online courses and residencies, use course data to improve teaching, and apply continuous refinement of course content and assessments.
  • Doctoral Mentoring – Guide doctoral and capstone students, chair and serve on committees, facilitate interactive course‑rooms, and support timely completion.
  • Curriculum and Course Development – Develop high‑quality courses, design lessons, assessments, and authentic tools, and ensure inclusivity and diversity in all materials.
  • School and University Governance – Lead and participate in school and university committees, mentor peers, and drive positive impact of governance structures.
  • Professional Service and Practice – Contribute professional knowledge to local communities and professional networks, represent the Capella brand, and maintain research and scholarship activities.
  • Leadership through Team Engagement – Assume essential roles across departments, contribute innovative ideas, and handle unplanned duties and specialized assignments.

  • Manage online course tools and mentor processes.

Research and Scholarship

  • Apply innovative teaching methods and document impact.
  • Submit proposals, present at workshops and conferences, and showcase original work.
  • Maintain an active research agenda and publish in recognized channels.
  • Attend professional development events and pursue additional credentials.

Professional Service and Practice

  • Advise career and well‑being to learners.
  • Lead student organizations and conduct learner‑facing webinars.
  • Support institutional activities with external audiences.
  • Provide leadership in professional associations and advocacy.
  • Volunteer in community events and share knowledge publicly.

Governance and Leadership

  • Participate actively in program, department, or university committees.
  • Engage in faculty staff meetings, development events, and pilot innovation projects.
  • Provide expertise in accreditation and curriculum quality.
  • Mentor and guide other faculty members.

Performance Criteria

  • Consistently meet teaching and mentoring expectations as reviewed annually.

Work Experience

  • Expertise in biostatistics, epidemiology, policy analysis, or program evaluation.
  • Experience in public health research design and oversight.
  • Experience presenting at national and/or local professional conferences.
  • Two or more years teaching in an online setting (preferred).
  • Strong background in qualitative research, GIS mapping, or project management (preferred).
  • Experience mentoring doctoral students (preferred).
  • Experience writing curriculum and familiarity with CEPH accreditation (preferred).
  • Active membership in educational leadership organizations (preferred).

Education

All degrees must be conferred from a regionally accredited institution.

  • A doctoral degree in public health is required.

Additional Requirements

  • Occasional travel may be required; accommodations available under ADA.
  • Ability to work onsite, hybrid, or remote with reliable internet and privacy conditions.
  • Capability to lift and perform physical tasks as needed.
  • Work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary: $82,000.00 per year.

Base pay range: $75,800.00 – $113,700.00.
