What You’ll Be Doing

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Associate Director (AD) to join our team in Germany. As a relevant member of the group, you will play a critical role in originating, executing, and managing complex M&A transactions across multiple sectors. The ideal candidate is a strong deal driver with outstanding analytical, execution, and client‑facing skills, and capable of leading teams. The ability to act in a product‑agnostic fashion and to introduce all relevant product areas of the bank is essential to deliver the best outcome for our clients.

Deal Execution & Transaction Leadership

  • Lead day‑to‑day project management of live M&A transactions, including buyside, sellside, strategic advisory, carveouts, and cross‑border mandates.
  • Oversee valuation analyses (DCF, LBO, trading and transaction comps), financial modelling, and strategic assessments.
  • Set up and manage due diligence workstreams, coordinating with legal, tax, accounting, and other third‑party advisors.
  • Prepare, review, and deliver high‑quality materials including information memoranda, management presentations, board materials, and pitchbooks.
  • Act as focal point, bringing together client needs, senior banker demands, and enabling teams to perform to the highest analytical and professional standards.

Client Coverage & Relationship Building

  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients, including CEOs, CFOs, corporate development teams, and private equity investors.
  • Support senior bankers in maintaining and expanding client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and originating mandates.
  • Develop a deep understanding of client needs to provide strategic and actionable M&A advice.
  • Mentor, coach, and supervise Associates and Analysts, ensuring quality output, efficiency, and professional development.
  • Collaborate with internal product partners (financing, ECM, DCM, coverage) to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Uphold a culture of excellence, accountability, and teamwork.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • 6–8+ years of experience, ideally in Investment Banking with a primary focus on M&A transaction execution. Candidates with backgrounds in Transaction Services, Assurance, or similar streams will also be considered.
  • Proven track record leading complex transactions and managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities with mastery of valuation methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills—confident in presenting to senior executives and leading client discussions.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and experience managing junior team members.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Fluent oral and written German (at least C1 standard, documented) and fluent oral and written English.

Preferred Skills

  • Proactive mindset with strong commercial instincts and origination potential.
  • Strong network among and working knowledge of corporates, private equity, and advisors.
  • Sector expertise (e.g., TMT, Industrials, Consumer, Healthcare) is a plus but not required.
  • Experience working on cross‑border transactions and familiarity with international deal‑making dynamics.

What You’ll Get in Return

  • Opportunity to work on high‑profile and transformative M&A transactions.
  • Entrepreneurial, collaborative team culture with high visibility to senior leadership.
  • Competitive compensation package tied to performance.
  • Professional development opportunities, including exposure to senior management at blue‑chip clients, and the opportunity to develop your own sector specialization and client franchise over time.
  • LiveOurCulture – We don’t just accomplish our work, but experience and shape it together. As a real team, we communicate at eye level.
  • ThinkEuropean – We are not only one of the largest financial institutions in Germany, but as part of UniCredit we are also internationally active and successful. For us, movement is not just about health, but also sustainability. For this reason, we offer you a discounted rate on leasing a JobRad and provide you with the Deutschlandticket for 25€ instead of 63€ per month. This way, we support your active lifestyle and promote environmentally friendly and affordable mobility.
