Audio Codec Design Specialist

What you'll be doing

• Designing and prototyping algorithms for advanced audio coding, including pre-processing and post-processing techniques to improve audio quality.
• Participate in the productization process of the prototyped algorithms.
• Contribute to patent IP.
• Contribute with high-quality publications.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in research, development, evaluation and productization of speech and audio coding, including methods for:
• signal preprocessing techniques for optimal bandwidth utilization,
• packet loss concealment,
• post-processing methods for improving quality of low-bitrate audio,
• pitch estimation,
• voice activity detection,
• signal classification,
• time-scale modification techniques for audio synchronization and network jitter compensation.
• Good understanding of modern lossy speech and audio coding standards, including AAC and Opus.
• Strong background in machine learning and deep neural networks.
• Strong background in signal processing, speech modeling, adaptive filtering and related fields.
• Rapid algorithm prototyping experience in MATLAB, Python or C++.
• Inquisitive, proactive and systematic working habits.
• Demonstrated ability to innovate and make architectural trade-offs for balancing performance/cost.

Bonus qualifications

• Prior experience in developing deep learned models for one or more of the above problems.

• Graduate degree in a relevant field. Ph.D. is a plus.
