AUTOMATION & PROCESS CONTROL ENGINEER

The Automation & Process Control Engineer is responsible for the development, maintenance, commissioning, and continuous improvement of Solos' process unit automation systems. The role will lead the transfer of automation expertise from external suppliers to an internal capability and ensure the reliable operation, scalability, and ongoing development of Solos' global technology platform.

The position combines PLC programming, process engineering, commissioning, troubleshooting, and project execution across multiple international production sites and customer installations.

Responsibilities

Automation Development & Ownership

• Lead the in-housing of all PLC programming and automation know-how currently managed by external suppliers.
• Maintain and improve automation software for existing mono-unit and duo-unit process systems.
• Develop software solutions for new process unit types and product categories.
• Standardize automation architecture across all Solos installations.

Process Optimization

• Implement process improvements based on operational feedback, R&D findings, and new process models.
• Develop and integrate advanced control functions and recipe management systems.
• Support the implementation of predictive models and process performance enhancements.
• Improve data collection, reporting, and process traceability systems.
• Install and configure PLC programs, HMI systems, drives, and associated automation hardware.
• Perform I/O checks, VFD configuration, startup, and commissioning activities.
• Support on-site commissioning and acceptance testing of new units globally.
• Ensure proper integration of Solos equipment into customer production environments.

Troubleshooting & Support

• Provide remote troubleshooting and technical support for all operating units.
• Diagnose programming and automation issues and implement corrective actions.
• Manage and maintain secure remote access systems.
• Support production teams with automation-related process improvements.

Project & Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with Process Engineering, R&D, Operations, Production, and Quality teams.
• Coordinate automation activities with suppliers, contractors, and customers.

Support automation-related CAPEX projects and technology developments.

Technical Skills

• Advanced knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal .
• PLC programming and industrial automation systems.
• Process unit automation and commissioning.
• SQL databases and industrial data management systems (advantageous).

Process Engineering Knowledge

• Fundamentals of process engineering.
• Beverage, wine, beer, and spirits processing knowledge (advantageous).
