Automotive Interior Prototyping Specialist

In this role you will develop, manufacture, and validate prototype interior components for serial feasibility. You will act as a technical expert across trimming, sewing, lamination, and upholstery within product development projects. You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and customers to translate CAD data into tangible prototypes and refine processes. This position offers hands-on prototyping work in a multinational automotive environment with a clear path to impact product interiors at scale. • Develop sewing patterns and cutting layouts for automotive interior components
• Create optimized material nesting layouts for leather, synthetics, fabrics, and other materials
• Assess material quality and identify defects in hides and trim materials
• Prototype, upholster, and laminate components to evaluate design and production feasibility
• Define and optimize lamination concepts and processes, including press and membrane lamination
• Evaluate manufacturability and feasibility based on CAD data and specifications
• Prepare work instructions and prototype manufacturing documentation
• Operate cutting, splitting, sewing, and upholstery equipment for prototype production
• Establish and improve manufacturing processes and workflow standards for interior trim
• Provide technical expertise on lamination methods, adhesives, and applications
• Analyze prototype test results and laboratory findings to support continuous improvement
• Maintain direct communication with customers, engineering teams, and plants throughout projects

• Completed vocational training in automotive upholstery, trimming, interior manufacturing, or equivalent
• Several years of experience in automotive interior prototyping or related manufacturing
• Hands-on experience with leather, synthetic materials, fabrics, foams, and premium interiors
• Strong knowledge of cutting, sewing, lamination, upholstery, and prototype manufacturing
• Ability to assess feasibility from drawings, CAD data, and customer requirements
• Team-oriented, quality-focused, self-motivated
