BESS Electrical Engineer

Location – North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany

Rate – Per/Day paid in €

Type of Role – Freelance

G2 are supporting a large IPP to recruit a Freelance Electrical Engineer to oversee specialised BESS construction projects located across North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Requirements:

• Must be a strong communicator in both German and English, written and verbally.
• A minimum of 10 years experience within electrical engineering positions.
• At least 2 years experience working on utility‑scale BESS.
• Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, MV/LV distribution, grid connection, and protection.
• Confident reviewing and advising on technical documentation relating to electrical design, grid compliance, and installation quality.

Responsibilities:

• Verifying all electrical documentation
• Reviewing single‑line diagrams (SLDs) and protection concepts
• Working on specifications for electrical equipment (transformers, switchgear)
• Developing solutions for grid‑compliant connection
• Overseeing electrical work completed according to VDE/IEC standards and utility interface requirements
