Job Summary
The Sr. IT Program Manager will manage a team of Project Managers embedded with Product Oriented Delivery Teams and oversee the delivery of all milestones and deliverables for a SAP Modernization Program. The role includes scope management, resource allocation, risk mitigation, stakeholder communication, and vendor oversight throughout project lifecycles. Job Responsibilities
- Manage a team of Project Managers ensuring adherence to Project Deliverables and Milestones in accordance with PMO Stage Gate Processes and Governance Frameworks and SoWs.
- Lead and manage programs by coordinating activities and delivery across multiple, related projects or work streams that span technology and areas.
- Ensure program meets schedule and scope targets.
- Identify, develop mitigation plans, and monitor to drive timely and effective escalation and risk/issue resolution.
- Manage and/or escape issues and/or complications and respond well to time pressures.
- Track dependencies and risks, and assess change impact across interdependent work streams and projects.
- Capture all pertinent actions and decisions.
- Provide oversight and guidance to those managing smaller projects within specific business unit domains.
- Oversee project resources to deliver required project artifacts/goals.
- Use effective people engagement skills to drive contact with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to manage expectations, establish timelines, and grow relationships.
- Ensure alignment on scope, value proposition and overall project goals.
- Work with functional departments to coordinate systems testing, deployment, training, and support.
- Track and communicate progress.
- Provide project status report updates to project stakeholders through project level and executive steering committees, maintaining an effective communication cadence.
- Ensure proper communication and change management processes are adopted for all major change initiatives.
- Work closely with Analytics, OCM, QA, Cost, Scheduling and Program Leadership to accurately report on program status and health.
- Manage team and work to build core competencies within the area with a focus on operational excellence.
- Oversee vendor deliverables, ensure vendor adherence to contract terms, work with leadership on vendor performance and SLA compliance.
- Facilitate project tailoring and artifact development to align with project management processes in accordance with project sizing.
Job Specific Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience in leading large projects; alternatively, 10 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- Understanding of and experience with IT project management methodologies, requirements management, quality assurance and IT processes from project inception to successful implementation.
- Understanding of financial principles, including experience with project financial budgeting and planning.
- Strong communication, organization, facilitation and presentation skills.
- Experience managing outsourced vendors (onshore and offshore).
- Strong judgment and analytical ability.
- Leadership, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to foster working relationships with the team, IT Management and functional departments.
- Experience in supervising/managing program team members or direct reports as part of program execution.
- Department of Energy's regulation 10 CFR 810 compliance required.
Desired Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA).
- Demonstrated experience with Primavera P6.
- Demonstrated experience with project tracking tools such as JIRA.
- Experience on large‑scale transformational technology projects.
