New Horizons in Autism Inc. is currently seeking a Billing & EHR Specialist to join our Team!

Position Description

The Billing & EHR Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance within the agency according to the State of New Jersey and Medicaid regulations and requirements. The Billing Specialist will process and follow up on Medicaid billing, review remittance advice forms to verify proper reimbursement, and adjust, as necessary.

The Billing & EHR Specialist will report to and support the Billing & EHR Director.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Check to ensure that all records for individuals served include all information required for Medicaid reimbursement.
  • Verifies correct Medicaid coding to ensure prompt and proper payment.
  • Inputs correct billing information and transmit it electronically to the Medicaid carrier.
  • Reviews remittance advice forms to determine any adjustments made to bills as submitted and consults with the Medicaid office.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly reports of Medicaid billing for the Finance office.
  • Attends training to keep abreast of Medicaid billing procedure changes and attends annual in-services (fire, safety, and infection control).
  • All other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • Strong organizational and follow-through.
  • High energy, goal-oriented with the ability to inspire people.
  • Must pass a background check, physical, drug screen, and Mantoux test (that is negative)
  • Moderate to advanced computer skills (MS Office applications)
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • A current, valid New Jersey Driver’s License is required. A current valid driver’s license from another state may be acceptable for no longer than three months. New Horizons in Autism, Inc. uses a driving matrix to determine eligibility for operating the company vehicle.
  • Must have verbal communication skills and hearing ability to discuss billing with program staff and financial staff.

Education and Experience

  • Two years of experience in clerical/office support work and/or education at the high school or post-high school level in English, spelling, keyboarding, computers, business, or office practices; preferred.
  • Familiarity and experience with a Medicaid-based fee-for-service system are required.
  • Understanding the Community Care Program (CCP) and eligibility, enrollment, and service provider responsibilities required.
  • Successful completion of all the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) System Mandatory Training Bundles at the time of hire or within 90 days of employment
  • Experience with THERAP required.
  • Experience with ISP and SDR plans required.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time, non-exempt position, and the hours of work and days are Monday through Friday.
  • Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status.
