Business Development Manager – Sustainability (EMEA)

We are seeking a Business Development Professional to help scale and sell sustainability solutions that meet our customers’ needs. You will lead sustainable sales growth by developing differentiated offers and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to realize the full potential of ADM’s capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Rapidly build sustainability knowledge to serve as a regional sustainability expert.
  • Leverage the technical expertise of the sustainability team to develop programs and offers for downstream customers, focused on the feed industry but not limited to it.
  • Create and deliver concrete action plans, demand profiles, and market segmentation to support the region and enable market creation for ADM sustainability offerings.
  • Introduce “frontrunner” sustainability products and services to the market to create value for farmers, customers, and ADM.
  • Apply commercial insights to define and coordinate the implementation of go-to-market strategy that optimizes revenue opportunities across the business.
  • Track and report on the financial contribution of sustainability initiatives and sales to ADM’s overall performance.
  • Engage customers and creatively encourage uptake of ADM’s sustainability offerings.
  • Support supply chain collaborations by managing stakeholder, retailer, and customer sustainability projects.
  • Collaborate cross-regionally and cross-functionally to champion initiatives related to traceability, deforestation, and carbon emissions.
  • Create sustainability awareness and influence the sustainability landscape internally and externally.
  • Upskill internal colleagues on sustainability topics through training, knowledge sharing, and collaboration with internal communications.
  • Build a relevant network of external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in sales, marketing, economics, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of customer‑facing experience as an account manager, business developer, trader, supply chain, sales, or marketing professional.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a clear understanding of how the business generates revenue and drives profitability.
  • Ability to operate effectively in matrixed environments, influencing without direct authority and balancing multiple stakeholders.
  • Passion for sustainability, translating environmental and social priorities into practical business outcomes.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages such as German, French, or Spanish are a plus.
  • Willingness and availability to travel (approximately 15%).
  • Strong drive for results, action‑oriented, self‑motivated, and self‑directed.
  • Capacity to challenge the status quo and think outside the box.
  • Critical thinking and decision‑making skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a sense of responsibility to drive results.
  • Willingness to take initiative and act with urgency.
  • Resilience when navigating change, ambiguity, and obstacles.
  • Proven experience with sustainable sourcing and/or sales is a plus.
