Lead Finance for a High-Growth Manufacturing Business
We are seeking a hands‑on Business Segment Controller to lead financial operations for two manufacturing segments totaling approximately $220M+ in annual revenue .
This highly visible leadership role is responsible for financial reporting, cost accounting, inventory controls, forecasting, budgeting, and compliance while serving as a strategic business partner to Operations and Executive Leadership. The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing finance experience, exceptional business acumen, and the ability to drive both operational excellence and financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Own full P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting for multiple manufacturing segments
- Lead month‑end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial reporting
- Oversee product cost accounting, standard costing, manufacturing variances, and inventory accounting
- Manage inventory valuation, physical counts, cycle counts, and excess & obsolete reserves
- Lead forecasting, budgeting, and long‑range planning processes
- Prepare and present financial results, forecasts, and business insights to executive leadership
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and internal controls
- Review capital investments and support ROI analysis
- Drive process improvements across finance and operations
- Leadership to improve business performance
- Lead, mentor, and develop finance talent across multiple teams and locations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience within a manufacturing environment
- Experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Finance Manager, or similar leadership role
- Strong expertise in:
- Cost accounting and standard costing
- Inventory accounting and valuation
- Manufacturing finance and operations
- Forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis
- Financial reporting and month‑end close
- Experience owning P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, SOX, and financial controls
- ERP experience in a complex manufacturing environment (Oracle preferred)
- Experience presenting financial results to executive leadership
- Proven leadership and talent development experience

Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $170,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year.
