Camera Engineer

In this role you will design and implement the mission-critical imaging stack that feeds AI systems in field conditions. You will translate mission needs into concrete optical and data pipeline specifications and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to move designs from prototype to deployment. You’ll own imaging architecture, low-level firmware, and validation across opto-electronic assemblies, ensuring robust sensor data for downstream AI. • Define imaging architecture and select lens/sensor combinations
• Align optical specs with AI needs and manage trade-offs between optics and algorithms
• Develop FPGA firmware for high-speed sensor interfaces and synchronization
• Drive manufacturing lifecycle from prototype to production with external partners
• Define validation tests and resolve integration challenges across opto-electronic assemblies
• Lead hardware bring-up and debugging in the lab and support integration into software stack
• Tune image quality and optimize designs and low-level algorithms for AI downstream

• Ph.D. or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, Optical Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
• Track record of taking complex opto-electronic systems from prototype to production
• Knowledge of opto-mechanical design challenges including thermal management and optical alignment
• Strong understanding of imaging physics (lens selection, MTF, CMOS sensor architecture, quantum efficiency, noise)
• Experience with system-level synchronization (PTP, PPS, hardware triggers such as Hsync/Vsync) for coordinating sensors and compute modules
• Proficiency in C/C++ or Rust for low-level firmware or hardware-software interface debugging
