Category Manager, Bakery

Responsibilities

• AI-supported inventory & margin management: You will take responsibility for continuously reviewing and correcting inventory data and margins, proactively minimizing shrinkage in the demanding fresh bakery category
• Price maintenance & master data control: You are responsible for listing and accurately maintaining supplier and purchasing prices for our bakery partners for both the regular assortment and time-critical promotions
• Data-driven promotional planning: You support Senior Category Management in the strategic planning and operational preparation of promotions and seasonal highlights
• Agile cross-functional coordination: You act as a decisive link and coordinate processes across departments with Marketing and Warehouse teams

Qualifications

• Professional experience: You bring initial relevant experience in purchasing, assortment planning or grocery retail (FMCG/Food). An existing network of bakeries or suppliers in the DACH region is a strong plus
• Language skills: You have fluent English (spoken and written), as we work in international teams and much internal communication takes place in English. Good German skills are also required for coordination with regional bakery partners
• AI knowledge: You are strong in data-driven work and have practical experience using AI tools and in prompt engineering
• Product & market expertise: You possess a deep understanding of fresh bakery assortments and current food trends (e.g., Clean Label, artisanal production)
• Competencies & mindset: You are characterized by excellent communication skills and a high degree of initiative. You make data-driven decisions and remain absolutely precise even under time pressure
• Driver’s license: You hold a valid driver’s license (Class B) to visit suppliers on site
