Responsibilities

  • Center Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing one or more USO Center operations and programs, events and activities at locations surrounding the Center(s). Manages subordinate operational staff and volunteers. Assists in evaluating and modifying existing programs, events and activities, and plans and implements new or improved programs, events and activities.
  • Provide a Center that is welcoming, safe, clean, well-maintained and ready-for-use, and ensure equipment is clean and functioning and sanitary guidelines and food-handling regulations are enforced.
  • Lead planning, quality and delivery of programs on and off USO military installations. Deliver services, equipment and events within budget; identify and implement improvements; act as a resource for Center staff and volunteers.
  • Review program needs; research and recommend new programs and services; implement changes.
  • Coach and mentor Center staff and oversee volunteers’ schedules, activities, recruitment, training and recognition. Maintain relationships with vendors and local contractors.
  • Create, maintain and enforce Standard Operating Procedures and the Emergency Preparedness Plan (EPP). Ensure staff, volunteers and vendors comply with the EPP and report issues to the Center.
  • Perform financial activities as directed, including budget creation, income tracking, banking transactions, and inventory management.
  • Prepare, review and present reports (financial, operational, statistical). Maintain records for local procedures and activities.
  • Communicate Center operations, programs and activities to internal and external parties; prepare announcements, stories and photos for distribution across media and social channels.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with U.S. Military, local community leadership, partners, donors and media to enhance awareness and support program delivery.
  • May operate a USO or personal motor vehicle.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 5+ years in a business operations, event management or marketing role, with at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity. Non-profit, military, multicultural and/or global experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and collaborate effectively.
  • Proficiency with computers and software (Microsoft Office, volunteer management software, social media). Experience with Digital Cheetah preferred.
  • Fluency in English; native-level proficiency in the language of the host country preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to engage with USO leadership, the public and military audiences with integrity.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with tact; sound judgment on sensitive subjects.
  • Understanding of basic business and accounting functions, including budgeting and project management.
  • Ability to perform basic math and manage cash/donations; budget reconciliation experience.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable to changing needs, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain credentials to access USO Center locations, including security and background checks, SOFA status, and valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid United States passport and foreign driver’s license where applicable.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the USO mission.

Details

  • This position is located in Ansbach, Germany. Preference will be given to local candidates within commuting distance.
  • SOFA position in Germany is available to U.S. Citizens only; non-residents of Germany or NATO family members may require immigration visa and SSN and must meet conditions.
