Chief Expert - Camera Optical Design

In this role you lead research and design of mobile imaging optics, shaping next‑generation camera systems. You work within the Kepler Advanced Optics Lab to deliver end‑to‑end optical designs and breakthroughs, collaborating with a global, cross‑functional team. You will publish and contribute to patents, while staying ahead of industry advances and academic collaborations. • Design and develop imaging optics systems for mobile devices (fixed focal, zoom, freeform) from concept to product
• Perform thorough optical analysis including tolerancing, athermalization, straylight optimization
• Integrate development infrastructure to enable end‑to‑end design, fabrication, metrology
• Lead requirements analysis, system simulations, and prototyping to address key challenges
• Track business context and technologies to identify new directions and breakthroughs
• Collaborate with globally distributed cross‑functional teams to meet business objectives
• Contribute to academic conferences, publish results, and foster collaborations
• Establish and strengthen collaborations with EU academic and industry imaging optics institutions

• Proven experience in design and development of novel imaging optics systems
• Strong theoretical knowledge in geometrical, diffractive and/or physical optics; Ph.D. in optics‑related fields preferred
• Proficiency with raytracing, optical design and simulation software
• Programming skills encouraged, especially Python or similar scripting languages
• Strong problem solving, analytical and goal‑oriented work approach
• Excellent communication at engineering and executive levels
