Position Overview

Senior Associate / Vice President Trade & Working Capital , Frankfurt, Germany (DACH & Nordics region). Responsible for sales, origination, structuring of trade and working capital solutions, managing dedicated clients, guiding junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Originate new Trade & Working Capital business through regular client calling, developing key relationships, and overseeing junior staff.
  • Coordinate business plans, financial analysis, pitches with the relationship management team and internal stakeholders (Product, Private Debt Mobilisation, Compliance, Legal, IT, Operations).
  • Maintain knowledge of key sector trends and facilitate cross‑sell opportunities.
  • Deliver client presentations, drive sales and coverage initiatives, manage client journey, act as escalation point.
  • Manage transactions through approval and execution process, considering profitability and portfolio requirements.
  • Adhere to internal processes and governance for control and transparency of sales activity.
  • Support existing portfolio business, enhance profitability and revenues in line with Santander’s requirements.
  • Manage, teach and develop junior staff; support hiring and interviewing.
  • Support external advocacy roles to build Santander’s branding and thought leadership.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in banking and/or Trade & Working Capital instruments and solutions (required).
  • At least 2–3 years of customer‑facing and/or sales experience (preferred).

Education

  • B.A. in Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent, or other university and business school qualifications such as finance, law, engineering, math, physics, economics (required).

Languages

  • Fluency in English and German (required).
  • Spanish or any Nordic language would be a plus (preferred).

Hard Skills

  • Knowledge in trade & working capital products and structures (required).
  • Knowledge in corporate banking (preferred).
  • Basic knowledge in legal structures (preferred).
