Compliance, Data Privacy Officer, Vice President, Frankfurt

As Data Protection Officer for Goldman Sachs Bank Europe SE and EU affiliates, you guide privacy strategy across Germany and the EU. You advise on cross-border data transfers, DPIAs, and regulatory changes while coordinating with Legal, Compliance, Technology, and Risk. You act as the formal DPO liaison with German and EU authorities, shaping privacy governance and policies. You are a key advisor to product, engineering, and business teams to enable compliant financial services and technology platforms.

• Act as the designated DPO for EU-based entities and branches.
• Serve as primary contact for German and EU data protection authorities.
• Advise business, engineers, operations and compliance on privacy by design and risk-based approaches.
• Lead DPIAs for high-risk processing, including fintech and AI-driven systems.
• Align privacy risk management with BaFin, AML/KYC and other regulatory standards.
• Advise on cross-border data transfers using SCCs, BCRs, and TIAs.
• Support privacy program governance with Legal, Compliance, Technology, and Risk.
• Develop and update internal privacy policies and guidelines.
• Promote privacy accountability through training and culture-building in the first line of defense.

• Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent; Law degree helpful
• 7+ years of experience, 5+ in Privacy/Data Protection, in regulated sector
• Deep knowledge of GDPR and BDSG; familiarity with TDDDG and EU AI Act desirable
• Proven track record as appointed DPO/ Deputy DPO with regulator liaison experience
• CIPP/E, TÜV/DEKRA, GDDcert.EU or equivalent certifications useful
• Professional fluency in German and English (written and spoken)
