Computer Vision Engineering Internship (m/w/d)

We are the Innovation Lab of Grimme Group, the market leader for potato and vegetable farming equipment. We are located in the beautiful and international City of Düsseldorf, Germany. Our core focus is building an optical potato sorter (farmsort.one) as well as supporting our mother company, Grimme, on its journey towards offering more digital services and solutions. Our international team loves the MERN stack and test-driven development.

We are constantly testing out new technologies and always look for new teammates who enjoy continuous learning and exploring new technologies.

This is an on-site, 6-month paid internship in robotics located in Düsseldorf, Germany.

We offer a dev culture with tech demos, education days, conference visits, talks, and foremost, we work with the latest frameworks and libraries in the field of Robotics. We further use state-of-the-art deployment tooling like Docker, Terraform for IaC and CI/CD strategies.

Your Profile:

• Working Knowledge Python, OpenCV, Tensorflow, image annotation (CVAT), camera calibration and image preprocessing techniques
• Object Detection, Segmentation and Multi Object Tracking experience with Deep Learning and Kalman Filters
• Understanding of building, integrating and improving vision datasets and models
• Background in Computer Science, Math, Physics or Engineering
• Linear and Matrix Algebra skills and custom neural network building experience (beyond retraining)
• Basic knowledge of C++ and Linux (Debian) is a plus
• Experience with different camera systems and eventually NIR cameras is a plus

Your Role:

• Support the optical sorting team by upgrading our existing vision systems, improving the datasets/models and our MLOps pipeline
• Lead your own sub-projects and coordinate with our colleagues
