The SE P DM organization is responsible for developing procurement strategies for direct materials that will ensure the optimization of Siemens Energy’s competitive position.
As Corporate Commodity Manager for Steel, you will be responsible for shaping Siemens Energy’s global steel procurement strategy across all Business Areas. You will monitor and steer a complex, highly regulated supply environment, build competitive, resilient and sustainable supply chains, and serve as Siemens Energy’s subject matter expert for steel, with a strong emphasis on the European steel ecosystem and its regulatory landscape.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Global ownership of direct and indirect (n‑tier) steel spend across all Siemens Energy entities, ensuring supply chain transparency and optimization
- Development and execution of a comprehensive Steel Commodity Strategy, including lower‑tier strategies, targeting competitiveness, resilience, supplier diversification, and sustainability
- Central steel subject‑matter expertise providing guidance on market developments, trade and decarbonization regulations, and support for scenario analyses, strategic decisions, and executive/board‑level discussions
- Establishment and leadership of an internal Steel Commodity Circle and cultivation of an external stakeholder network across relevant partners and functions
- Strategic supplier relationship management with mills, distributors, and service centers, enabling long‑term agreements and multi‑tier sourcing frameworks
- Supply chain risk identification and mitigation, leveraging geopolitical, regulatory, and market developments while integrating ESG and sustainability requirements across the steel value chain
What You Bring
- University degree in engineering, metallurgy, or business, combined with extensive experience in procurement or consulting, preferably within metals and steel
- In‑depth knowledge of steel markets, value chain dynamics, and sustainability and decarbonization challenges
- Ability to operate effectively in multicultural environments and within complex, functional matrix organizations
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and stakeholder management capabilities at all organizational levels
- Strategic mindset supported by strong analytical rigor and structured problem‑solving skills
- Fluency in German and English (spoken and written)
