Cyber Security Engineer (Defence)

In this role you will harden Linux (RHEL) and Windows environments to meet BSI and Cert-BW requirements, and implement security policies and remediation measures. You will automate security processes, manage virtualised environments, and secure Active Directory, firewalls, and network security. You will conduct assessments, work with cross-functional teams and customers on security strategy, and contribute to secure IT environments within defence projects. This is a hands-on role with a clear impact on reducing risk and enhancing compliance.

• Hardening Linux (RHEL) and Windows per BSI and Cert-BW requirements
• Developing and implementing security policies, procedures, and hardening measures
• Automating security and hardening tasks using Bash and PowerShell
• Securing and managing virtualised environments
• Hardening Active Directory environments
• Configuring and managing firewalls and network security technologies
• Conducting security assessments and audits
• Identifying vulnerabilities and implementing remediation measures
• Collaborating with technical teams, project stakeholders and customers on wider security strategy

• IT Security, Cyber Security or System Administration experience
• Strong knowledge of Linux RHEL and/or Windows environments
• Experience with BSI security standards and hardening requirements
• Bash and/or PowerShell scripting experience
• Experience with virtualised environments
• Knowledge of Active Directory
• Experience with firewalls and network security, ideally Cisco
• Very good German language skills
• Willingness to undergo security clearance
• Willingness to travel within Germany
