Database Platform Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, implementation and operation of scalable, highly available PostgreSQL or Oracle platforms for modern data and analytics use cases
• Planning and execution of complex database migrations, e.g., from on‑premises to cloud (e.g., Azure, AWS, or GCP), between hyperscalers, or from legacy systems to PostgreSQL platforms
• Automating the entire database lifecycle (IaC, GitOps, CI/CD) in line with a "Database as a Service" approach
• Technical leadership role focusing on observability, reliability, governance, and best practices across teams

Requirements

• University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related technical field, or equivalent relevant professional experience
• Deep, several years of experience in PostgreSQL or Oracle platform engineering and advanced database architectures
• Strong understanding of query planning, index strategies, partitioning, replication, and high‑availability setups
• Strong skills in automation and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Ansible) and experience with GitOps and CI/CD approaches for databases
• Willingness to travel for project‑related business trips and fluent German and English language skills, both written and spoken
