DCEO Project Engineer, DC Engineering Ops - Excellence (DCEx)

Responsibilities

• Represent the Infrastructure Operations team throughout the data center build lifecycle, including pre‑qualification, design reviews, and fit‑out finalization.
• Ensure critical spares, Operations Bill‑of‑Materials, and commissioning scripts are accurate and complete.
• Trigger and coordinate existing global availability programs at the appropriate milestones.
• Initiate and manage maintenance contracts in collaboration with TIPMs, Procurement, and Construction teams.
• Document lessons learned from each new build project and propagate mitigations to future projects.
• Conduct site walks, review technical drawings, and follow up on operational concerns to ensure successful remediation.
• Report progress and concerns to senior Operations leadership.
• Collaborate with global teams, including engineering, automation, processing, design, construction, commissioning, GCs, TPMs, procurement, environment, and safety.
• Manage small‑to‑medium impact projects from conception to completion.
• Work closely with the Data Center Engineering Operations team to support and guide the DCEO team at each step of the new site launch.

Physical Requirements

• Walk job sites on uneven terrain.
• Work at heights and from ladders.
• Lift and/or move up to 49 pounds; participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or more.
• Coordinate body movements when using tools or equipment.
• Reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance.
• Bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working.
• Perform physical tasks all day without becoming overly tired.
• Use hands to manipulate small wires and objects.
• Push or pull heavy objects into position.
• Work in a noisy environment.
• Work at depths, such as under raised floors.

Basic Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant work experience in a data center operations or other critical environment OR 8+ years of technical training (Military/Trade School) and/or experience with relevant data center facilities equipment.
• Knowledge of data center technical infrastructure such as HV/MV/LV switchgears, cooling infrastructure, UPSs, generators, and related equipment.
• Ability to influence a variety of stakeholders and earn trust of stakeholders and internal customers.

Preferred Qualifications

• DC‑related certification.
• Experience in construction or project management, or project management certification such as PMP or PRINCE2.
• German language proficiency.
• Knowledge of German regulatory permit requirements for data centers.
• HV/MV switching authorization.
