Design Engineer

As a Design Engineer in Mannheim, you will contribute to developing specialized, remotely operated equipment for repairing nuclear power plant components. You will guide products from concept through testing and field deployment, collaborating with cross‑functional and international teams. The role focuses on delivering robust mechanical designs for harsh environments and supporting ongoing product life cycles. This position offers the chance to work on First‑Of‑A‑Kind projects and shape repair tooling in a mission‑critical industry.

• Develop and design concepts and equipment for repairing key nuclear power plant components
• Create detailed mechanical designs and solutions for complex environments
• Support development, testing, and qualification of new equipment, including customer reviews and on-site activities
• Contribute to FOAK projects and advance prototypes to maturity
• Prepare project documentation (Work Instructions, Development Programs, Test Reports, Bills of Materials)
• Provide ongoing support for existing products (troubleshooting, spare parts coordination, technician training)
• Collaborate across departments, sites, and international teams; foster cross-country collaboration

• Min. 3 years of experience in development, design and testing of specialized electromechanical equipment
• German spoken and written (C2) - required
• English spoken and written (B1/B2) - required
• Proficient in CAD design software, preferably Creo
• Knowledge of machining / chip-removal processes (optional)
• Knowledge of Hydraulics (optional)
• Knowledge of welded structure design (optional)
