Development Engineer 2 - BU Microsystems & Photonics (m/f/d)

As a Development Engineer within BU Microsystems & Photonics, you will lead and support development projects throughout different phases. You will work closely with various X‑FAB departments to ensure the successful execution of projects while adhering to internal processes and standards.

Your Role

• Develop microsystem technologies at wafer level
• Manage development projects in accordance with X‑FAB procedures and standards (e.g. scheduling, coordination, reporting)
• Develop new process steps and test structures in collaboration with the project team
• Perform structured evaluation of experimental results, including optical inspections and statistical analyses
• Collaborate closely with internal departments such as Quality, Engineering, Customer Service, and Process Characterization
• Plan and facilitate regular project meetings to coordinate activities, review progress, and define next steps
• Collaborate with external customers and business partners
• Support the acquisition of new customer projects and maintain long‑term customer relationships

Your Profile

• At least 10 years of relevant industry experience, preferably in CMOS, Photonics, Microsystems, or a comparable high‑tech environment
• Master's degree or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Microsystems Engineering, Semiconductor Technology, or a comparable field
• Open‑minded, curious, and passionate about developing innovative solutions, combined with strong problem‑solving skills
• Proven experience in project management
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in multicultural and interdisciplinary teams
• Basic German language skills and the motivation to further develop them
• Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken
