Director Civil & Constructions Engineering Capital Projects (m/f/d)

In this role you lead civil and building-related capital projects within Abbott's Established Pharmaceuticals Division. You drive standards, constructability, and site execution across a multi-site network to ensure GMP-compliant, on-time delivery. You’ll partner with site teams to optimize safety, efficiency, and capital spend while shaping the division’s engineering practices. This is a high-impact role at the nexus of design, procurement, and construction, with a global scope.

• Provide technical leadership across complex capital projects to improve execution predictability
• Define and deploy enterprise standards for site development, earthworks, buildings, cleanrooms, and infrastructure
• Lead early-stage civil input into feasibility studies, master planning, and risk assessment
• Drive constructability reviews, interface management, and cost/schedule optimization
• Ensure detailed design packages support efficient field execution and minimize rework
• Coordinate CQV readiness, validation handover, and GMP compliance considerations with stakeholders
• Build civil engineering capability across the network by sharing lessons learned and standard playbooks
• Represent EPD in the Global Engineering Services community of practice

• Expertise in civil engineering for complex international capital projects in pharma or GMP environments
• Strong focus on safety and environmental guidelines
• Excellent English communication; other languages a plus
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage competing priorities
• Proven track record influencing EPC firms, design teams, and site leadership
• Strong problem-solving and stakeholder-management skills
• Collaborative, adaptable, and respectful leadership across multicultural teams
