Honeywell is seeking a Communications Director to work at one of our key sites in Frankfurt, Berlin, or Ratingen, Germany.

The Role

The Communications Director will focus on telling our brand story to internal and external audiences in Germany, providing additional support for communications activities across continental Europe as required. The role reports to the Senior Director of Communications for Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East and partners closely with the Regional President and regional Communications leader to shape and deliver strategic, enterprise‑aligned communications that build awareness, deepen understanding, and inspire action across all stakeholders.

As an individual contributor, the role blends hands‑on execution with strategic impact, with a particular emphasis on communicating Honeywell’s energy and automation technology narratives to German audiences. The successful candidate will be comfortable counsel to senior executives while also managing the full spectrum of communications activities. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and German are essential, along with the ability to navigate a dynamic environment with rapidly shifting priorities.

Deep experience in message development, localization, and media relations across industry press is required. The candidate should bring outstanding media contacts across business, financial, political, and industrial press, and be experienced in leading integrated communications programs at key events and external positioning platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and implement a holistic internal and external communications strategy and plan for Honeywell in Germany aligned to business objectives.
  • Develop regional media programs linked to business strategy, regional industry trends, and performance requirements.
  • Execute Executive Positioning strategies for the Regional President and country executives to drive media coverage, employee engagement, and visibility.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key reporters/media and manage media inquiries and interview requests.
  • Partner on message development and provide media training and coaching as appropriate for executive spokespeople.
  • Develop and deploy innovative tactics to deliver compelling messaging to employees across the business.
  • Support major initiatives, organizational transitions, leadership changes, and other transformation steps with effective communication plans.
  • Coordinate and facilitate budget and vendor relationships, event management, and project teams.
  • Collaborate with businesses, functions, and government relations on crisis and issues management.
  • Oversee content for press releases, bylined articles, key messages, media statements, Q&A documents, and briefings.
  • Advocate for the Honeywell brand and serve as a brand ambassador.
  • Champion AI within Communications.
  • Travel 10–15% of the time.

Success Factors

  • Develop relationships with reporters/media, pitch news stories, and serve as a media spokesperson.
  • Strong AP‑style writing with the ability to create clear, concise messages aligned with corporate messaging.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to present to senior management.
  • Think strategically, provide communications counsel, and lead planning to drive results.
  • Identify issues proactively and execute actions to mitigate impact.
  • Self‑starter able to thrive in a matrix organization with shifting priorities.
  • Excellent project management and multitasking across deadlines.
  • Intimate understanding of social media, especially LinkedIn, and advanced knowledge of Viva Engage for employee engagement.
  • Strong business acumen and partnering skills with the ability to navigate relationships at all levels, particularly senior executives.
  • 12–15 years of B2B communications experience preferred, including senior work in large, complex international companies.
