Director of Education and Principal

Overview

We are seeking a Director of Education and Principal for our modern and functional school center. The municipality of Savukoski announces an open position for a permanent Director of Education and Principal. The principal’s duties include those of the Principal of Korvatunturi School and Savukoski High School, while the Director of Education acts as the head of the sector and presents to the Education Committee.

Responsibilities

• Serve as principal of Korvatunturi School and Savukoski High School.
• Act as director of the education sector and present to the Education Committee.
• Oversee school operations, curriculum, staff development, and student affairs.
• Manage finances and ensure precision in financial management.
• Coordinate the use of Primus, Kurre, and Wilma programs.
• Lead student services, including counselling and support programmes.
• Ensure compliance with municipal policies and educational regulations.
• Facilitate project‑management initiatives and organisational improvements.
• Engage with teachers, staff, parents, and the community.
• Prepare reports and communicate with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Higher university degree.
• Teacher qualifications and qualifications for the relevant teaching form.
• Sufficient work experience as a teacher.
• Degree in education administration.
• Experience in principal duties or similar leadership experience is considered an advantage.
• Strong organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Project‑management experience and financial management proficiency.
• Knowledge of Primus, Kurre, and Wilma programmes is considered an advantage.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for the position is determined according to OVTES and KVTES. Applicants are asked to specify their salary expectations in their application. A six‑month probation period applies to the appointment. The municipality offers flexible working hours and the possibility to work remotely in accordance with municipal remote‑work guidelines.
