This position is based at our Luxembourg headquarters and requires regular office presence. The role is a traineeship in the Chief Financial Controller Directorate (CFC) – Financial Reporting and Accounting Department (FRA) – Bank Reporting Division (BRD).
Duration: 5 months, fixed start date 1st October 2026. (Possible extension up to 6 months if required by the university.) The traineeship programme welcomes applications from nationals of the European Union. Candidates whose Erasmus+ programme overlaps with the duration of the traineeship will not be considered.
The Role Offers
- Exposure to the full financial reporting cycle of a supranational financial institution, from transaction‑level accounting to published financial statements.
- Hands‑on learning of EU Accounting Directives and IFRS requirements in a real‑life financial reporting environment.

Responsibilities
- Assist accounting officers in assessing compliance with EU Accounting Directives and IFRS requirements, including the analysis of accounting treatments and disclosures.
- Contribute to the preparation and validation of information used in financial statements and related reporting processes.
- Support the identification, documentation, and follow‑up of accounting and control‑related issues, under the supervision of the officer responsible.
- Assist in analyzing structured accounting questions and support the implementation of agreed solutions in the relevant IT systems.
- Support communication and coordination with internal stakeholders and external parties (such as external auditors) by preparing analyses, documentation, and follow‑up inputs.
- Contribute to the documentation of risks and to the maintenance and enhancement of internal control processes.
Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills
- Final year of studies or university degree preferably in finance or accounting.
- Very good knowledge of accounting principles.
- Very good knowledge of the standard Microsoft 365 office tools (Word, Excel, Copilot).
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of another EU language would be an advantage.
