Overview

This position is based at our Luxembourg headquarters and requires regular office presence. The EIB offers you the opportunity to live and work in a truly international and multi-cultural environment. The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Portfolio Management & Monitoring Directorate (PMM) - Transaction Management Department (TM) - Funds & Co-Investments Division (FCID) - EU Funds & Co-Investments Unit (EU FUNDS) at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE. Duration: 5 months (start date: 1st September/October 2026). With possible extension up to 6 months if required by University. Please note that the traineeship programme aims to attract applications from nationals of the Member States of the European Union. Candidates whose Erasmus+ programme overlaps with the duration of the traineeship will not be considered. Please note that you are requested to limit your applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications. We will only consider and retain the first three applications submitted.

Objective of the traineeship

You will be involved in the Portfolio Management and Monitoring (PMM) activity of the EIB's equity operations (primarily infrastructure, private equity and microfinance funds inside and outside EU). Through your involvement, you will gain insight into the EIB's activity in general, and in particular into the life cycle of its risk capital investments, from the end of the investment period until the wind down.

You will act as a full member of the team, working under the supervision of the Head of Unit and Investment Officers, in order to be able to provide a valuable contribution to the functioning and business objectives of the Funds and Co-Investments Division.

You will also gain insight in data management, models and related systems. You will develop communication and coordination skills necessary for working in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Interaction with internal and external counterparts in relation to data collection and production of notes / reports;
  • Ensuring data quality through data collection, processing and analysis;
  • Assisting the team with fund/co-investments handover (from the origination team to the PMM team) and wind down events;
  • Assisting the team with the preparation of fund Annual General Meetings (AGMs);
  • Actively supporting the team with scheduled or ad-hoc reporting requests and event resolutions.

Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills

  • Final year of studies or University degree preferably in Business, Finance or Economics;
  • Analytical skills; prior experience with financial analysis, financial modeling or valuation would be considered an asset;
  • Ability to use the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) effectively and efficiently;
  • Fluent in English and/or French and a solid understanding of the other.
